Plant…? A Church?

That’s right! Douglas Church is a new(er) church plant started by Ken Duffy, with a burning passion to see the gospel redeem the lives of the people of Douglas and grow to a maturing and beautiful fellowship that honors and glorifies God. The term church plant is derived from passages like 1 Corinthians 3:6 where Paul uses the analogy of planting, watering, and growing in reference to the gospel message and God’s Kingdom in making disciples. Also, Jesus spoke of His Kingdom–in Matthew 13:31–being “…like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field…”. Essentially, planting a church is sewing seeds of the Good News of Jesus in a specific town and watching God grow it within us and multiply through the context of the local church, which is part of the one true and growing universal Church. Simply put, church planting is disciple making–structured the way God intended–which is the mission Jesus gave all of his followers.

What can I do?

Everybody in the church plays a critical role. Pastor, teacher, organizer, cleaner, encourage(r), singer and more… The Church is one body with many parts (Romans 12:4). If you are a baptized believer in Jesus Christ, he has a purpose for you in the local church and his global mission. Knowing that role is sometimes relatively quick and obvious and other times takes years of training and growing until he fully uses you in the capacity he intended.

We can help you find your purpose in this short life (or help you live it out if you already know your gifts). Being a church plant naturally means we have every area to grow imaginable!

Using our gifts to thrive in a growing and close-knit community is the work God does supernaturally in us to bless his children and show his glory to an onlooking world, to draw others to repentance and faith in him.
